WHAT IS THE ORIGIN OF THE WHOLE BODY CRYOTHERAPY?
Whole Body CryoTherapy was originally developed by Dr. Toshiro Yamauchi in Japan in 1978 who was treating pain and inflammation in his patients with rheumatoid arthritis. It has been extensively studied and refined in Europe since that time.
HOW DOES WHOLE BODY CRYOTHERAPY WORK?
The Chill Chamber uses an upright, step-in whole body cryochamber which employs gasiform nitrogen to lower the client’s skin surface temperature to approximately 32 degrees F in 30 seconds or less and this remains nearly constant for the duration of the session of up to three minutes. Skin receptors sense the cold and send signals to the brain to promote regulatory functions of the body and release calming endorphins into the blood stream.
IS NITROGEN GAS DANGEROUS TO HUMANS?
No. Nitrogen is a non-toxic gas. The earth’s air that we breathe is made up of 16% Oxygen, 1% Hydrogen, 78% Nitrogen and 5% other components.
IS IT COMFORTABLE?
Before entering The Chill Chamber, clients are instructed on proper protective clothing if necessary, however dry socks are always required. Privacy is always maintained as only the head is visible. The cold, though intense, is a dry, gaseous cold and does not make the skin wet. It is considered well-tolerated by those who are sometimes cold-intolerant.
HOW DO I FEEL AFTER A SESSIONS?
During the session, the brain receives cold signals from the skin and triggers the auto-preservation mechanism within the body. This causes the release of endorphins into the bloodstream which relax the body and toxins are flushed away. This process is responsible for the feel good and energetic mood of the client which can last up to 8 hours. Many clients expressed having the best night of sleep after a Cryo session.
CAN I CATCH A COLD FROM WHOLE BODY CRYOTHERAPY?
The immediate response from the cold therapy will raise the body’s temperature a few degrees for a short period of time. however, the overall stimulation of the immune system can help decrease the severity and frequency of future colds.
I AM CLAUSTROPHOBIC, CAN I USE WHOLE BODY CRYOTHERAPY?
Absolutely! Your entire head remains exposed and above The Chill Chamber. The door cannot lock and the staff member is there through the entire process until the session has ended.
DO I HAVE TO TAKE A SHOWER BEFORE OR AFTER A SESSION?
No, you don’t. The entire procedure is dry and does not make your skin wet. Many clients’ come by during their lunch break since the entire treatment is only 3 minutes long. We can accommodate your specific scheduling request.
HOW MANY TIMES CAN I GET WHOLE BODY CRYOTHERAPY A DAY?
We recommend up to 2 sessions per day, at least 4 hours between sessions. Most clients immediately feel energized after their first session, however it is recommended to have at least 5 sessions consecutively daily or every other day to establish the body’s baseline and to have lasting beneficial effects.

HEALTH & WELLNESS BENEFITS
CryoTherapy Process
Whole Body CryoTherapy treatment is great for Health & Wellness. The outer surface of the skin is lowered to near 35 degrees F for 2-3 minutes by way of Nitrogen mist. During this time, the vessels and capillaries in the skin undergo a period of vasoconstriction followed by vasodilation. This causes toxins in the body to be broken down and carried away and signals the brain to release highly beneficial biochemicals into the bloodstream.
Chronic Medical Conditions
Medical Studies have shown that Whole Body CryoTherapy can help to alleviate chronic medical conditions such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Fibromyalgia, Multiple Sclerosis, Auto-immune disorders, Ankylosing Spondylosis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Psoriasis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Dermatitis and Osteoporosis. Studies have also shown that Whole Body Cryotherapy is beneficial in the treatment of mood disorders, affective disorders, anxiety and depression.

Although the body is not at risk, this process causes the body to “burn” between 500-800 calories. Most clients notice a sound night’s sleep and the release of endorphins into the body leaves many clients with an immediate feeling of being energized and a positive outlook.
